Trials Trail is one of two access points to the trails from the 256 Street staging area and is about 60 seconds down the forest service road (FSR) from the staging area gate. It will be on the right hand side.

It is a short (about 60 – 90 seconds) tight trail that will dump you right on to Sandman where you’ll turn right and continue towards more trails. If you turn left on Sandman it will lead you back out to the FSR slightly further down than the Trials trail entrance.

Gordy’s begins right before the dip to the lower half of Sandman and will take you to Canterbury.

It’s a medium length trail, taking about 4 to 5 minutes to complete. The recently implemented Kalamari Bypass (1:34 of the video) has made my life a bit easier although I do take the original route when I’m carrying more speed.

The key to Gordy’s is momentum! This is especially true for the tricky root section (1:27) and the two small rock faces later on (the first being much easier than the second). I find the two small hill climbs are easier in 2nd gear rather than 1st on my 300XC w/factory gearing.
